Have you ever thought about who gets left out of outdoor events? Last weekend, at an outdoor event we saw something that stuck —an elderly couple, one in a wheelchair struggling to navigate the grass and mud at a local fair. They were sidelined, watching from a distance, unable to fully take part.
But it’s not just about wheelchairs. Parents with strollers, elderly people and the disabled. Accessibility isn’t a luxury—it’s a basic necessity for inclusivity. An easy way to ensure that these people feel like they are not a burden is to simply ensure our fairgrounds, events, and sports grounds are accessible!
Everyone deserves to cheer their grandkids on at the oval, buy icecream at the markets and enjoy the band with the cheering crowds.
