Nothing proves product performance like putting it to the test in real site conditions. On a recent project visit, we set out to evaluate how our Ground Mats HD perform under both dry and saturated soil conditions—and the results didn’t disappoint.
The Goal
Construction and infrastructure projects often face unpredictable ground conditions, especially after rain or water discharge. We wanted to replicate these challenges and see how well our mats held up.
Step One: Dry Ground Test
To start, we brought in a fully loaded water truck and ran it over the Ground Mats HD placed on firm, dry soil. Here’s what we observed:
-
The mats provided excellent load distribution.
-
There was no movement, sinking, or rutting.
-
The soil underneath remained undisturbed.
This demonstrated the mats’ ability to handle heavy vehicles without impacting the surface integrity—exactly what they’re designed for.
Step Two: Saturated Soil Challenge
Next, we raised the stakes.
We had the water truck empty its entire tank onto the testing area, saturating the soil until it became soft and boggy—simulating real-world post-rain or flood-like conditions.
Then we repeated the test in two stages:
Without Ground Mats HD:
-
The truck quickly got bogged down, losing traction and sinking into the soft ground.
With Ground Mats HD:
-
The mats provided a stable, secure surface.
-
The truck passed over the saturated ground with no bogging, thanks to the mats distributing the load and maintaining surface integrity.
-
Edges stayed flat, with no lifting or shifting.
The Takeaway
This test reinforced the critical role Ground Mats HD play in ensuring safe, reliable access across challenging terrain. Without mats, even moderate vehicle movement on saturated soil can result in costly delays, equipment risks, and site damage.
With Ground Mats HD, your site keeps moving—rain or shine.
