Track Mats HD are rated to support up to 70 tonnes, with a working range of approximately 50–70 tonnes per axle on solid, even surfaces. Actual suitability depends on ground conditions, vehicle type, axle configuration and how the load is distributed. For softer or unstable terrain, additional assessment may be needed before installation.
If you’re specifying track mats for heavy equipment with unusual load requirements or operating conditions, speak with the Ground Nurse team to confirm the right model and layout for your site.
Yes. Track Mats HD can support both vehicle movement and pedestrian access when installed correctly for the site conditions. Their dual-sided traction pattern helps provide a grippy surface in wet, muddy or uneven areas, while the high-visibility yellow finish defines access routes and pedestrian zones. For mixed-traffic sites, plan the layout around vehicle movements, turning areas and foot traffic so people and machinery can move across the worksite safely.
Yes. Track mats can be laid over grass, mud, sand and other soft or sensitive surfaces to create a more stable access route. They spread loads across a wider area to limit rutting, churn and surface damage. Still, results still depend on soil condition, moisture levels, vehicle weight and traffic frequency. On especially soft ground, the site may require additional preparation or a different ground protection system on site.
Track Mats are designed to be straightforward to clean and maintain between jobs. For loose dirt and everyday site debris, a hose is usually enough. For dried mud or heavier build-up, use a pressure cleaner to remove material from the traction pattern and surface. Cleaning mats before transport or storage also helps reduce mess and keeps them ready for the next project. Inspect connectors and handholds while cleaning so any damage or excessive wear can be identified early.
A track mat measures 2400 mm by 900 mm, so start by mapping the required route, work zone, turning area or platform. If you’re currently comparing track mats for sale, factor in extra coverage for areas where vehicles need to turn, pass or manoeuvre. Ground conditions can also affect quantities, so Ground Nurse can help calculate the right number for your site. Reach out to us today for more information.
